Comfortable Gum Disease Treatment
Our friendly, experienced and professional hygienists take pride in giving our patients very thorough cleanings. Using our ultrasonic scalers, they painlessly remove tartar from your teeth. Whether you have mild or severe gum disease, we provide a strong defense against bacteria build-up that causes gum disease and tooth decay.
Mild to moderate gum disease treatment
For mild or moderate gum disease, our ultrasonic scaler is used to eliminate bacteria that have accumulated on the gums. This deep cleaning effectively stops any gum inflammation and helps restore gums to health. Additionally, root planing after scaling will ensure that bacteria won’t be able to adhere to the tooth or root and allow gums to stay healthy. We will also teach you how to maintain healthy gums from home between visits.
Eliminating the bacteria
Bacteria can invade below the gum line, where it’s out of reach of a toothbrush and floss. Along with ultrasonic scaling, we use Arestin therapy when appropriate to stop more serious gum disease. It’s a time-released antibiotic that is placed directly on the infected areas, effectively stopping the bacteria and allowing your gums to recover. We can also use Peridex, which is an oral rinse that also eliminates bacteria causing gum disease.
Treating Severe Gum Disease
Dr. Aguilar treats severe gum disease with scaling and root planing, surgical gum treatment, gum measurements and localized applications of Arestin or using a Peridex oral rinse. His on-going continuing education and 12 years of practice, along with the experienced skills of his hygienists, provides you with a high level of comfort, thoroughness and effectiveness.
