Eat what you want with Mini Implant-Supported Dentures
Now you can have your dentures and eat anything you want too! The high-tech world of dental implants has now made it possible to have comfortable, secure dentures that don’t slip and allow you to chew with confidence.
Dentures that don’t slip
If you wear conventional dentures, you are no doubt familiar with the problems associated with them. Slipping and rubbing cause sore and painful gums. You need to use an adhesive to try to lessen the movement. You can’t eat many of the food you used to enjoy, even healthy ones. This can lead to poor nutrition and a much-lessened enjoyment of food.
Implant-supported dentures, on the other hand, eliminate all of these problems. Your dentures are secured firmly in place with the implants so they don’t move or rub. You no longer will have to deal with goopy adhesives. And you can enjoy any food you desire!
How Mini Implant-supported Dentures work
An implant is a titanium post that is inserted into the jaw bone where teeth are missing. The top of the implant, above the gum line, has a ball that snaps securely into the socket fitted to the denture. Mini implants to support dentures are narrower than regular implants, making them even easier to insert without cutting the gums. There is no need to wait for the gums to heal before completing the procedure. Dr. Aguilar places several implants, usually six, into the jaw bone.
Your new dentures snap onto the implants, giving you a whole new level of stability. The dentures are easily removed for cleaning.
The problem with missing teeth
One of the biggest drawbacks to dentures is that they don’t stimulate bone growth in the jaw. In fact, the bone actually deteriorates and over time, is absorbed back into the body. Natural teeth, in conjunction with chewing, keep bone stimulated and rejuvenated. With dentures, jaw bone density gradually decreases over time, causing the dentures to need continual adjustments. The foods you can comfortably eat become much more limited.
Using dental implants to support your dentures solves the problem of jaw deterioration. The implants keep the jaw bone stimulated, preventing bone loss from occurring.
