By now, you may be aware of some of the benefits associated with implant dentistry. Dental implants are designed like natural teeth. So, they support the most natural-looking, natural-feeling, and long-lasting replacement teeth. Due to their design, they also help to keep the bone in your jaw strong. They can truly last a lifetime with good oral hygiene. While you may be aware of these advantages over conventional bridges and dentures, there are also considerable advantages to partnering with your friends at Manchester Dental in Manchester, Georgia. Our dentist, Dr. Abel Aguilar, has special expertise and state-of-the-art technologies to handle every part of the implant process. Here are four ways our office shines with implant dentistry and what these capabilities mean for you.
Not all dental offices near us and far away can surgically place implants in the jawbone. Many dentists must refer their patients to specialists or other offices for this surgery. This is not the case here at our office. Dr. Aguilar has the training, knowledge, and experience to position each implant precisely where it needs to be to support your new teeth. He also uses a surgical guide or guided implant surgery technique to ensure that each implant is positioned at the correct angle and depth to provide maximum support for your crown, bridge, or denture.
Some patients may require preparatory procedures before we can complete surgical implant placement. The most common such procedure is bone grafting. Dr. Aguilar is also skilled at this technique, which is designed to build up the bone in your jawbone. Bone loss often accompanies tooth loss. The jawbone doesn’t have the stimulation it needs from the teeth, so it tends to shrink (just like your muscles waste away during bed rest or inactivity). Dr. Aguilar can “regrow” the bone at the sites that need it the most. This provides a good foundation for the implant and promotes the success of your new implant-supported teeth.
Our patients who are missing most, if not all, of their teeth, may be good candidates for the All-on-4 approach. Dr. Aguilar positions each implant in such a way as to make use of available bone in the jaw and in a way where minimal implants may be used to support a maximum number of teeth in a denture. He may be able to secure as few as four to six implants to support an entire upper or lower denture. This may also be a good “graft-less” alternative for patients who are not good candidates for bone grafting but might otherwise be precluded from implants without this advanced technique. We can even place the dentures immediately and “do it all” in one visit – extract any remaining teeth, insert implants, and place a provisional or temporary denture.
CEREC represents yet another technology that makes it easier than ever before to get your new implant teeth. This computer-aided process allows us to plan, design, fabricate, and cement your crowns and bridges in just one visit. Typically, dentists would turn to an outside lab to make crowns or bridges. At Manchester Dental, we can restore the implants with crowns or bridges in-house. This provides the ultimate quality control and supports the most efficient and hassle-free implant experience.
Of course, no two patients are alike. We will not know how you can benefit from these capabilities until after a consultation is scheduled. Dr. Aguilar will evaluate your needs during your visit and discuss your preferences and goals. To get started today, call our Manchester, GA office at (706) 981-6272. For a personal touch, Dr. Aguilar’s wife, Jamie, makes a delicious healing soup for patients after they undergo extractions or get crowns or bridges.
